Hello, Happy New Year 2018 & welcome to Kendra Relaunched! The blog has been out of commission for a bit as it undergo’s reconstruction. As with most things in life, blogs should be reviewed periodically to make sure old content and design is still relevant. A review of the blog unearthed a lot of outdated information that I didn’t feel lived up to the brand I’m creating so, please bear with me as I continue to update and improve Kendra Relaunched. The blog may appear to be empty right now as A LOT of older blog posts are currently hidden in draft-mode while I take new photos for recipes and refresh content. I’m excited to have you along on this journey should you continue to stick around!
Can you believe it’s 2018? 2018. I remember how, when we were little, my older brother and I thought we would all have flying cars by the year 2000. As much as I love technology, I’m glad that our world, or at least my world, isn’t quite that progressive yet. I love “old school” things like reading a real newspaper, cooking a great meal from scratch, etc. It’s the old school part of me that always enjoys keeping a very lowkey New Year’s Eve. We enjoyed a quiet night at home with light hors d’oeuvres, champagne and music. My type of Heaven.
Going into 2018, my declaration (declaration, not resolution!) is to continue to reclaim certain aspects of my life so I don’t look up one day and wonder where the bulk of my time went. In 2018 I declare:
- I will limit the number of charity-related boards I serve on. As much as I enjoy being a Board Member, I want to get back to being elbow-deep in individual philanthropic events without the time commitment that being a Board Member entails. Charities need the people on the ground more than they need another person sitting around a table, behind-the-scenes. A year ago I reached a point where, with work & charity events, I almost had a breakdown because I was stretching myself too thin. Other people were getting the best part of me while my family was secondary and often on the receiving end of the irritated, tired leftovers. I can never get those moments back.
- I will continue to make fitness a lifestyle and not a momentary event used to obtain a quick goal. I’m 43 and, again, cannot reclaim the time I lost, but CAN improve each day going forward.
- I will rebrand Kendra’s Cookies. Kendra’s Cookies was started in 2008 and has undergone opening and closing several times as the success of it overwhelmed me. With a second company opening on the horizon, I want to give my first company the honor it deserves. Stay tuned as I work with a marketing company to bring you the new & improved Kendra’s Cookies!
These are my declarations. I’ve always believed that January 1st shouldn’t be the magical date by which positive change is determined. I put the wheels in motion for myself several months ago. 2018 will be my year.
How about you? What do you declare in 2018? Would love to hear your goals & plans!
